Additional Information: | Brick, vernacular house has returned eaves and segmental-arch windows. 2017- "This farm complex consists of a farmhouse [59395] and a collection of outbuildings that includes a large barn [233455], silo, windmill, and equipment shed. The one-and-one-half-story, c.1890, gable-ell farmhouse (AHI No. 59395) rests on a stone foundation. The brick walls are laid in common bond, with horizontal wood siding in the gable ends. The gable roof is covered with asphalt shingles and has a brick ridgeline chimney and a cross gable above the ell on the front (south) facade. Other features of the roof include a prominent frieze and wide eaves with cornice returns. A hip-roof porch with a wide frieze and Tuscan columns spans the ell. The porch shelters the main entrance and a large picture window with a leaded glass transom and narrow sidelights. First-story window openings feature segmental arch brick headers; fenestration includes one-over-one, double-hung, replacement windows and wood three-light windows at the basement level. A large c.1900 barn (AHI No. 233455) north of the farmhouse has a rectangular plan and rests on a raised stone rubble foundation. The gambrel roof is covered with modern metal roofing. The south elevation is dominated by a two-and-one-half story projection that features a gambrel roof and a one-story shed-roof addition is set within the ell to the east. The first story walls are stone, and the upper walls are clad in vertical wood plank siding, modern metal siding, and horizontal wood siding. The front facade features a large vertical wood-plank sliding door on a metal track. Other fenestration includes wood, two-over-two, double-hung and fixed sash; three-light fixed sash; and one-over-one, double-hung, replacement windows. The one-story addition features concrete walls, two entry doors, and a metal overhead garage door. A c.1910 rusticated concrete block silo is located east of the barn. A c.1940 gable roof equipment shed located at the east side of the complex is clad in standing seam metal replacement siding and has a modern overhead door at the west elevation; a c.1920 windmill is located east of the equipment shed." -"STH 23: Becker Blvd to CTH VV", WisDOT#1430-18-00, Prepared by Mead & Hunt, Inc., (2017). |
