NOTES
Additional Information:DESIGNED IN THE ITALIANATE STYLE, THIS TWO STORY RETAIL BUILDING WAS CONSTRUCTED BETWEEN 1874 AND 1875. IT FEATURES A RECTNAGULAR SHAPED PLAN CONFIGURATION, A STONE FOUNDATION, A STONE EXTERIOR, A STONE TRIM AND A FLAT ROOF. THE ROUND ARCHED WINDOWS ON THE SECOND STORY ARE DISTINGUISHED FROM ABOVE BY STONE WINDOW HOODS WITH KEYSTONE ACCENTS, AND FROM BELOW BY STONE SILLS. A WOODEN BALCONY, WHICH HAD ONCE APPEARED ABOVE A REMODELED STOREFRONT, AND A PROJECTING ITALIANATE CORNICE, WHICH WAS ORIGINAL TO THE BUILDING, HAVE BEEN REMOVED. (SEE BIB. REF. B). SITUATED AT THE REAR IS A LARGE, CONTEMPORARY, CONCRETE BLOCK AND BRICK ADDITION. THE ALTERED STOREFRONT AND OTHER CHANGES HAVE NOT AFFECTED THE STRUCTURE'S OVERALL GOOD CONDITION.

THE MRS. LOUISE MINER BUILDING, THE HISTORIC NAME OF THIS STRUCTURE, WAS THE SITE FOR A SALOON BUSINESS FROM 1884 TO 1894. (SEE BIB. REF. A).

THE BUILDING WAS DESIGNATED LOCALLY, BECOMING PART OF THE MINERAL POINT LANDMARK DISTRICT IN 1972.

2012- "Born in Mineral Point, Morris J. Minor married Kittie Sterling whose sister Virginia was the wife of Richard Gundry, son of Joseph and Sarah Gundry. M. J. Minor was teh proprietor of several successful businesses, including an ice house.

In addition to Minor's saloon, the building has housed Duppler's Sample Room; Mat Kieffer's Saloon; W. H. Mitchell Jr. Billiards; H and H County Store; Berg TV & Appliance; Felderman's' Craft Lady; The Bargain Nook; and the Mineral Point Collection."
