NOTES
Additional Information:ROUND ARCHED WINDOWS IN 2ND STORY. EXTERIOR HAS BEEN RENNOVATED SINCE FIRST SURVEYED IN 1977. ALL THE ORIGINAL FIRST STORY WINDOWS HAVE NOW BEEN REPLACED BY MODERN ONE-LIGHT WINDOWS INSTEAD.

2008- "This previously surveyed, two-story-tall, rectilinear plan Commercial Vernacular form building was built in 1908 to house the Waunakee State Bank. The building occupies a prominent corner lot that comprises the southwest corner formed by the intersection of W. Main and Fish streets and this location gives the building two principal facades, one facing east onto Fish Street and the other facing north onto W. Main Street. The building has a concrete foundation and exterior walls that are clad completely in reddish-brown brick and that are crowned with a corbelled brick cornice.

The building was designed to provide quarters both for the bank and also for an income-producing retail spaces as well and these different spaces have been clearly differentiated in the design of the building. The principal entrance to the bank portion of the building is located in the first story of the building's canted northeast corner, which faces into the intersection. The building's shorter W. Main St. fa9ade was associated with the bank and it is asymmetrical in design and its first story contains three identical, evenly spaced semicircular-arched window openings while the second story has a pair of semicircular-arched window openings placed to the left (east) and two pairs of flat-arched windows placed to the right.

The longer east-facing, asymmetrically designed side elevation of the building is divided into three zones. The righthand (north) zone was associated with the bank and its first story has four semicircular-arched window openings and its second story, two semicircular-arched window openings. The middle zone contained a two-story entrance hall and stairway that accessed the second story of both the bank and also offices that were located in the second story in both the right and left-hand zones. The first story of this zone features a flat-arched entrance door opening flanked by a flat-arched window opening and there are two taller flat-arched window openings located above that are themselves crowned by two smaller flat-arched transom windows. The left-hand zone was occupied by the income-producing part of the building and both its first and second stories have flat-arched window openings, which helps to differentiate this zone the building's banking portion, which has predominantly semicircular-arched windows."
