Additional Information:Gavin W. Young was treasurer of Edgewater Paper Company. His house on Lake Road was constructed in 1938.

The Gavin W. Young House is not associated with any known historical individual or event.

The Gavin W. Young house is located on Doty Island on a small peninsula bordering the Fox River. Situated in a secluded neighborhood on a large lot featuring an extensive circle drive, the Young House is a rectangular brick two story residence built during the Colonial Revival period of construction. The hipped roof material is asphalt, the bonding is American, and the foundations are not visible. Adorned with shutters, the windows are double hung sash, six over six. The front entrance features a portico supported by columns.

The Gavin W. Young House is a contributing member of the Lake Road Historic District.
