Additional Information: | Garage. Enclosed front porch. Lester L. Whitmore was treasurer of Whitmore Machine and Foundry Company. His house on Park Street was constructed in 1918. The Lester L. Whitmore House is located on Doty Island in an area bordered on the north by the Fox River. Situated mid block on Park Street opposite Smith Park, the Whitmore House is a two-and-one-half-story American Foursquare residence featuring an extensive enclosed front porch built of brick. Windows on the porch consist of a series of double-hung sash, three-over-one. The roof material is asphalt, the siding corners ofding and consist of the same design as those of the porch. The hipped roof features four dormers with sets of two windows divided into three panes. A contributing member of the Smith Park Historic District, the Lester L. Whitmore House is an outstanding example of the American Foursquare style of construction. |
