NOTES
Additional Information:Additional photo code: FCS 6/22. FCS 6/22 - U.S. PAPER MILLS POWERHOUSE - is a four-story, rectangular utilitarian brick structure, and is part of a contiguous papermill complex built on an island between the river and a power channel. Multistory window arcades give the building a Romanesque aspect. Ground level entry is through a door in the right bay of three closely-set arches in the narrow, riverside wall. The ground story of the long, downstream wall with its three widely-spaced arches is obscured by lower, abutting brick and cement block additions to the mill. The building's cement-silled windows are all obscured; the lower windows and lunettes of the arches are covered by panels. The panes of the metal-framed windows in the third story of the downstream wall are painted over. The company's shield emblem is set above the center arch of the riverside wall, just below n encircling corbel course which gives the tile-trimmed, parapetted wall cornice the appearance of a frieze. A round brick smokestack rises high above the plant's flat roof.

2009--No significant exterior changes appear to have been made to the complex since it was last surveyed in 1984.
