LOCAL SOURCES INDICATE THAT THIS HOUSE WAS BUILT IN 1865 FOR JOHN GRAY. TAX ROLLS INDICATE THAT A BUILDING WAS ON THIS LOT AS EARLY AS C. 1855. RICHARD THOMAS OWNED THE LOT AND BUILDING FROM 1858-1868, WHEN JOHN GRAY PURCHASED THE PORPERTY. IT IS POSSIBLE THAT ANOTHER HOUSE EXISTED ON THE PROPERTY THAT WAS MOVED FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF THIS HOUSE BY JOHN GRAY, OR IT MAY HAVE BEGUN LIFE EARLIER THAN LOCAL SOURCES INDICATE.
