NOTES
Additional Information:Concrete block recessed front porch.

1984/86--Leonard W. Whitmore was a prominent Menasha industrialist in the early twentieth century. Coming to Menasha from California in 1906, he bought the interest of George Mockly and Sailer Machine Company. With Joseph G. Sailer, Whitmore formed the Sailer-Whitmore Machine Company, manufacturers of woodworking, excelsior, and paper mill machinery. His house on Naymut Street was constructed in 1913.

The Leonard W. Whitmore House is associated with a prominent Menasha industrialist of the early 20th century.

The Leonard W. Whitmore House is located on Doty Island in one of Menasha's most prominent residential neighborhoods. Situated mid-block on the east side of Naymut Street, the Whitmore House is a rectangular two-story, side-gabled residence featuring a recessed front porch built of concrete block piers and columns and a large central dormer. The roof material is asphalt, the siding is aluminum, and the foundations are concrete block. Decorative features include a fanlight and stained-glass windows in the large central dormer.

The Leonard W. Whitmore House is a contributing member of the Naymut Street Historic District.

2009--The historic boundary for the proposd 1984 Naymut Street Historic District was reduced for 2009; however, the Whitmore Residence is still located within the Naymut Street HD boundary for 2009. The only apparent alteration to the house since it was last surveyed in 1984 is the application of vinyl siding (it was previously aluminum).
