NOTES
Additional Information:A 'site file' exists for this property. It contains additional information such as correspondence, newspaper clippings, or historical information. It is a public record and may be viewed in person at the Wisconsin Historical Society, State Historic Preservation Office. A late frame Queen Anne with picturesque plan.

Frank Leavens was a coal, wood and papermaker supplier.

The house was previously surveyed in 1981 with a map code of 2/10 on a city engineers base map. The 2004 map code is 144/25a.

House was probably designed by Herbert Chivers, a St. Louis architect. In 1910, Chivers published a catalog of house designs, including testimonials from previous clients. Included with plate 84 (the Corapolis Cottage) is the following testimonial:

"We are very much pleased with the house and wish to thank you for the interest taken by you while we were building same. Your plans and specifications were perfectly satisfactory." FRANK A. LEAVENS, (Paper Makers' Supplies), Neenah, Wis.

Since the house as built bears only minimal resemblance to the published design, it is unclear whether the Leavens house was an earlier standard design, a customized version, or if the testimonal even relates to the Corapolis design.
