Additional Information: | A 'site file' exists for this property. It contains additional information such as correspondence, newspaper clippings, or historical information. It is a public record and may be viewed in person at the State Historical Society, Division of Historic Preservation. SEE GUIDE TO WILLIAM WATERS' WORK IN OSHKOSH. ARCHITECTURAL SIGNIFICANCE: REPRESENTS A TYPE, PERIOD, OR METHOD OF CONSTRUCTION. ARCHITECTURAL STATEMENT: THIS IS AN EXCELLENT EXAMPLE OF THE ITALIANATE STYLE. WINDOWS ARE CAPPED WITH ELABORATE HOOD MOULDINGS, THE SHAPE OF WHICH IS REPEATED IN BRICK ALONG THE FRONT CORNICE. A SIMPLE PEDIMENT WITH STONE COPING RISES FROM THE FACADE. ALTHOUGH THE STOREFRONT HAS BEEN ALTERED, THE CORNICE AND WINDOW DETAILS HAVE BEEN PRESERVED. HISTORICAL STATEMENT: OF INTEREST IS THE FACT THAT PROMINENT PHYSICIAN DR. HARVEY B. DALE MAINTAINED AN OFFICE IN THIS BUILDING. (C) "Harvey B. Dale, influential physician, surgeon and Superintendent of Schools, was an early occupant of this building. Some of the building's features include Italianate and Gothic Revival windows and hood mouldings, pilasters with shouldered triangular pediments, trefoil arch tracery, and keystones embellished with Latin crosses."
