Additional Information: | In 1927, the 32nd Military Police Co., a Wisconsin National Guard Unit, secured (built) an armory in Arcadia for $24,000. The armory was owned by the unit and would become state property in the event of disbandment of units. 1927 deeded to the Wisconsin State Armory Board, deeded to the State, June 12, 1950 (Mary Seefeldt, Dept. of Military AFfairs, 242-6324). Sanborn-Perris maps of Arcadia show that the one-story attached garage addition on the east side of the building was added sometime after 1934. Since it was surveyed in 1977, the first story windows on the armory's main facade have been filled with brick and the original six-over-six-light double hung second story windows have been replaced with modern one-over-one-light windows. |
