NOTES
Additional Information:2001 -
The primary Ashland to Superior roadway was included by 1920 in the evolving state trunk highway system and designated as Route 10. It continued to carry that designation in 1925, at which time the facility through Brule and west to Superior was gravel, while the segment east to Ashland was considered an "all weather earth road". The roadway was designated as USH 2 by 1927 and incorporated into what was then known as the Theodore Roosevelt Highway - one of the named roadway trails so prominent in the country at the time. By 1932, that segment of the road between Muskeg, through Brule, to Maple was paved with concrete, asphalt or brick. The entire segment of the roadway from Iron River to Superior was paved by 1934.

Date of bridge construction is uncertain. This bridge is still extant according to online research (MAP) in 2020 but it no longer carries USH 2 across the Brule River. Instead, it now carries a bike path across the river.
