Additional Information: | ANDREW MURPHY WAS THE FIRST WHITE SETTLER IN T1N-R1E, AND HE FOUNDED THE VILLAGE OF BENTON (NAMED AFTER THOMAS HART BENTON). THE MILL SITE IS MENTIONED ON BOTH THE 1833 ORIGINAL LAND SURVEY AND THE 1839 MAP BY DALE DAVID OWEN. THE MILL IS STILL OPERATING, AND WATER IS STILL ITS SOURCE OF POWER. MILL DEMOLISHED 1988. RUDKIN HOUSE (AHI#0065098) MOVED ONTO MILL FOUNDATION FROM MAIN ST. IN BENTON. |
