Additional Information: | School District No. 2, located in the community of Oakland Center along Highway 12, built a non-extant wood schoolhouse before 1867. This school was destroyed, along with most of the town, by a tornado in 1878. A new brick schoolhouse was constructed shortly after the destruction. The school was closed in 1959, and the district consolidated with the Jefferson and Cambridge school districts. It was later converted into a private residence. Previously surveyed in 1977. SEGMENTAL ARCHED WINDOWS. CLAPBOARD ENTRY ADDITION. Other buildings on site include a shed and outhouse. |
