NOTES
Additional Information:An altered commercial building. Originally, the building was clapboard sided and on the ground floor featured five openings - three doors and two windows (See photo in bicentennial book).

Constructed after the 1884 fire, this frame building housed the Glasson Hotel, restaurant, and store. Previous to the fire, Glasson's Millinery Store occupied the site.

In 1935 Ray Sornberger purchased the property and used the front portion as Belmont's post office. He and his wife operated the hotel until 1939 and the restaurant and store until 1942. Belmont's post office was organized in 1868 with William A. Garden as postmaster. It was initially licated at 109 S. Mound Avenue (31/6). In 1974 the post office moved to its current location in the Mound City Bank building.
