NOTES
Additional Information:The structure is partially dismantled. The Helvetia Milk condensing company (name in 1920 changed to Pet Milk Co.) was organized in 1885 in Highland, Illinois, and was the first company to "produce a marketable unsweetened condensed milk that was sterile and would keep indefinitely." The plan at New Glarus was erected in 1910 and was almost immediately (1911) under the management of Emil F. Kaeser, son of one of the company's founders.

The establishment of this condensery signalled the end of many of the small cheese factories in the New Glarus area, including the one located on the village (site 18/2). The Pet Milk Co. closed in 1962.

2015: THE PLANT IS ALMOST ALL DEMOLISHED THE ONLY EXISTING FEATURE IS A CAN WAREHOUSE NOW USED AS A GREEN COUNTY GARAGE.
