NOTES
Additional Information:A 'site file' exists for this property. It contains additional information such as correspondence, newspaper clippings, or historical information. It is a public record and may be viewed in person at the Wisconsin Historical Society, State Historic Preservation Office. Situated in Hartland's East Capitol Drive Historic District, 702 East Capitol Drive is a two-story clapboard Queen Anne residence with a stone foundation. Built sometime between 1891 and 1897, the irregular silhouette features shingles in the gable ends, and a one-story enclosed porch dating from the early Twentieth Century, sheltering the main entrance. The multi-gable roof is covered with asphalt shingles. In May of 1985, the residence was owned by David and Sandra Wolken. Architectural/Engineering Singificance: 702 East Capitol Drive is a contributing structure in the District, but is not individually architecturally significant. 702 East Capitol Drive is typical of the several Queen Anne inspired vernacular homes in Hartland. One of a handful of such residences in the district, 702 exhibits the most fully developed, pure Queen Anne elements, although the twentieth century porch somewhat compromises the integrity.
