Additional Information: | A 'site file' exists for this property. It contains additional information such as correspondence, newspaper clippings, or historical information. It is a public record and may be viewed in person at the Wisconsin Historical Society, Division of Historic Preservation-Public History. A frame cottage with fine spindle work and turned posts on front and rear porches. The form of this house (with steeply pitched roof broken by dormer) and the texture created by shingles and turned spindles combine to create a very distinctive, small scale residence. The majority of small scale residences in Oshkosh are either Greek Revival or Colonial Revival designs. This, in contrast, appears more picturesque, primarily due to the fine turned details and variation in shingle patterns. In 1889 this home was occupied by William Ragan, a barber. |
