| Additional Information: | Other building associated with the Little Meadowmere Complex are the House (AHI 70768),, the landscape (AHI 203481), the gazebo (AHI 220510) and the swimming pool (AHI 220511). DESCRIPTION This group of agricultural buildings includes as animal barn/ stable constructed in 1884 and remodled in 1928. This barn has a multi-gabled roof, clapboard and board and batten siding, and a fieldstone foundation. An octagonal cupola sits at the to of the rear section of the building. ARCHITECTURAL/ENGINEERING SIGNIFICANCE The original 1884 structure was remodeled in 1928. The architect in charge of the remodling was T.S. Van Alyea. HISTORICAL BACKGROUND This building is part of a farm building as the Little Meadowmere Farm. It is a local landmark, designated in 1983. The farm was owned by Harriet and Martin Fladoes in the 1930s. She was a sister of General Billy Mitchell. |
