NOTES
Additional Information:A 'site file' exists for this property. It contains additional information such as correspondence, newspaper clippings, or historical information. It is a public record and may be viewed in person at the Wisconsin Historical Society, Division of Historic Preservation-Public History. 2023: This two-story industrial building was constructed as the bottling department of People’s Brewing Company in 1912. It is structural brick with bartizan-like crenelations at the street-facing corners and a corbeled cornice along the parapet. The principal elevation faces west and is symmetrical in composition with individual windows in four bays at the first and second floor. The windows are replacement one-over-one hung sash windows. Between 1979 and 2005, the entrance into the principal elevation was removed and replaced with a window. By 1987, one pole building was constructed along the north elevation, and by 2005, another pole building was constructed along the south obscuring the windows on either side. 1978: A simple two story brick structure with bartizan inspired elements enlivening the roof line. The People's Brewing Company was formed in 1912 as a common stock corpoation. After 71 years in operation, the company closed its doors in 1973. The brewery building itself was demolished and the office building alone remains.
