Additional Information: | A 'site file' exists for this property. It contains additional information such as correspondence, newspaper clippings, or historical information. It is a public record and may be viewed in person at the State Historical Society, Division of Historic Preservation. This two story house features an L-shaped plan configuration, a concrete foundation, a stucco exterior, a wood trim and an asphalt shingled jerkinhead roof. Throughout the structure are elements of the Arts and Crafts style. Wide overhanging eaves are supported in the open ends by massive braces rendered in a cloud lift motif. A small shed dormer has similar wide eaves, and double windows with six-over-one panes. Segmental arched openings dominate the facade on ribbon windows of the second and first stories and on an enclosed porch. The ribbon windows have mullions and six-over-one panes, and the enclosed porch has an entrance flanked by sidelights and window openings. The glazing of these porch sidelights and window openings were removed. The residence is in good condition. Historical Statement: This house was built for Samuel Jr. and Jennie Breese in 1916. They resided here until around 1945. During the years he lived at this dwelling, Breese was president of the I. B. Rowell Company, a farm implement business.
