THIS TWO STORY RETAIL BUILDING, DESIGNED IN THE ITALIANATE STYLE, WAS CONSTRUCTED BEFORE 1885. HOWEVER, A PLAQUE APPEARING UPON THE CORICE OF THE FACADE INDICATES A DATE OF 1890. THE STRUCTURE FEATURES A RECTANGULAR SHAPED PLAN CONFIGURATION, A CONCRETE FOUNDATION AND A FLAT ROOF WITH A FLASE FRONT. EXTERIOR WALL MATERIALS CONSIST OF BRICK, GLASS, CONCRETE AND STONE, WHILE THE TRIM MATERIALS ARE MADE UP OF BRICK, WOOD, CONCRETE, METAL AND STONE. THE F IN THE PHOTO CODE AND IN THE MAP CODE STANDS FOR FCS. ANOTHER MAP CODE FOR 544 W. WATER STREET IS GL 13/12. THIS BUILDING IS NOW USED AS STORAGE SPACE. |
