Additional Information:A 'site file' exists for this property. It contains additional information such as correspondence, newspaper clippings, or historical information. It is a public record and may be viewed in person at the Wisconsin Historical Society, State Historic Preservation Office. THIS TWO STORY RETAIL BUILDING, DESIGNED IN THE ITALIANATE STYLE, WAS CONSTRUCTED BEFORE 1885. HOWEVER, A PLAQUE APPEARING UPON THE CORICE OF THE FACADE INDICATES A DATE OF 1890. THE STRUCTURE FEATURES A RECTANGULAR SHAPED PLAN CONFIGURATION, A CONCRETE FOUNDATION AND A FLAT ROOF WITH A FLASE FRONT. EXTERIOR WALL MATERIALS CONSIST OF BRICK, GLASS, CONCRETE AND STONE, WHILE THE TRIM MATERIALS ARE MADE UP OF BRICK, WOOD, CONCRETE, METAL AND STONE. THE F IN THE PHOTO CODE AND IN THE MAP CODE STANDS FOR FCS. ANOTHER MAP CODE FOR 544 W. WATER STREET IS GL 13/12.

THIS BUILDING IS NOW USED AS STORAGE SPACE.
