It is a public record and may be viewed in person at the Wisconsin Historical Society, State Historic Preservation Office. Flat triangular pediment shaped window and door heads; double leafed entrance door with over light; hip roofed main structure; plain cornice and overhanging eaves; full length front porch with flat roof dentil trim and Tuscan columns; south bay window. The main block is a two-story cube surmounted by a very shallowly pitched roof. A side wing is slightly lower with a hipped roof. The main block is three bays wide. This was the home of William P. Brown, Cashier of the Wisconsin National Bank, when he lived here between c. 1885 and c. 1900. 1999- A house of this general configuration is present on the 1890 Sanbron map of Watertown; however, the south wing is indicated as a single story. The current porch and two-story extension is first seen on the 1915 fire insurance map. The man block of the house may have been built circa 1860. Int hat year, D.D. Scott owned lots 3, 4, and 5 with a valuation of $1100. The property has a number of owners until circa 1875 when it came under the longtime ownership of William Brown, cashier of the Wisconsin National Bank. the house consists of two portions. The original block is a two-story cube with a hipped roof. To the south of the house was added a two0story block. The addition is set back and is of lower height than the main house. At the back of the house is an attached, non-contributing garage. |
