Additional Information: | Cresting on turret. Leslie E Freeman had this home built in 1909. He came to New London at the age of 18, starting his career in lumber with the pioneer lumberman, James Meiklejohn. Freeman worked in various capacities and became the vice president of Hatten Lumber, associating with the lumber business for 64 years. Many celebrations were held at this home including the wedding of their daughter, Iva Freeman. On August 10, 1933, Mr. and Mrs. Freeman celebrated their golden wedding anniversary by welcoming more than 100 friends and family to an open house at their home. The funerals of the Freeman family members were also held at this home. |
