Additional Information: | A 'site file' exists for this property. It contains additional information such as correspondence, newspaper clippings, or historical information. It is a public record and may be viewed in person at the Wisconsin Historical Society, State Historic Preservation Office. The Olfson House is a two and one-half story Queen Anne style house with a complex hip and gable roof, clapboard siding, and applied stickwork. The gable peaks are decorated with bargeboard and decorative cross pieces. Openings are largely single light sashes, some grouped in pairs. The front elevation has a single picture-style opening with a transom. The front entance is covered with a porch that features turned posts and a spool-and-spindle balustrade. The Olfson House is a fine and very intact example of the Queen Anne style. It has the irregular plan and exubrant details found on good example of this style and a high level of historic integrity. Of particular note is the abundance of stickwork detail decorating the wall surfaces of the building. |
