Additional Information:DESCRIPTION
This two story rectanfulare frame house has a low-pitched gabel roof, clapboard siding and a fieldstone foundation. Windows are single-pane double-hung sashes. It is reported that this building has a half-timber structural system.[f,p. 58] Also on the property is smokehouse, sheds, and a gable roofed barn with board siding.

ARCHITECTURAL/ENGINEERING SIGNIFICANCE
At the present time, not enough information is know to the judge these building's significance.

HISTORICAL BACKGROUND
This was the farm of Ludwig Bruss, who brought it in 1854. Ludwig Bruss owned it until 1879. Friedrich Bruss, Ludwig's son owned the farm between 1880 and 1901. [b] Ludwig Bruss was the son of Martin Bruss. The Martin Bruss family is one of the oldest Freistadt German families in western Mequon. Most of the Freistadt settlers were fron northern Germany and were Lutherans who come to this county for religious freedom. Bruss came in 1839. Ludwig Bruss was born in Pomerania in 1829. [f, p.58]

HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE
This farmstead has some historical interest as the home of one of the Bruss family, a long time prodominate family in Mequon.
