Additional Information: | DESCRIPTION This house is a large, rambling two and one-half story frame building with an irregular plan, clapboard siding, and a steeply pitched intersecting gable roof. An early twentieth century sunroom extends from one end of the building. The front facade features a very large projecting gable that is supported by large decorative brackets. The gable is decorated with dentils, wood shingles, and a very nice palladian window. A two story porch covers the front entrance. It has turned post and a spool and spindle balustrade on both stories. Windows are larger with transoms. Windows are decorated with cornice lintels. There is also a fine gambrel roofed barn with board siding and a tile-covered silo on the property. ARCHITECTURAL/ENGINEERING SIGNIFICANCE This house has some architectural interest as an example of the Queen Anne style. The agricultural outbuildings have some interest as examples of typical farm buildings in Mequon. HISTORICAL BACKGROUND This house and agricultural outbuildings were owned by Ferdinand Lemke at the time the house and barn were constructed.
