The original building was constructed of brick anf has a steeply-pitched gable roof. Windows are single-pane double-hung sashes decorated with brick segmentals arches and shutters. On the front facade the windows are much smaller. There is an occulus window in the gable peaks. The large rear addition is covered with vinyl siding. Also on the property are numerous sheds and grain storage structures. There is a very large gambrel-roofed Wisconsin Dairy Barn in an L form. The barn has board siding, small window openings, and a concrete foundation. A large concrete silo and a small concrete silo sit besides it. ARCHITECTURAL/ENGINEERING SIGNIFICANCE The Wisconsin Dairy Barn has some special interest becasuse it is one of the few large dairy barns in the city. Most of Mequon's dairy barns were converted to hay, basement, and animal barns. This barn represents the type of construction specifically built for expanding the dairy industry in Wisconsin. HISTORICAL BACKGROUND This property was owned by Friedrich Prahl around 1850. Then it was owned by John and then Henery Prahl between 1857 and 1931.
