NOTES
Additional Information:DESCRIPTION This one and one half store gabel ell house has a low-pitched intersecting gables and is sided with asbestos shingles. Windows are double-hung with some panes having a single sight and some six-over-six lights. The form and massing of this house suggest that it may have a log or half-timber structural system. Because of its age and association with German settlers know to have built fachwerk homes, further investigation is suggested to determine what kind of structural system the house has. HISTORICAL BACKGROUND This house and agriculture outbuilding were owned by Freidrich Hilgendorf between 1840 and 1873 and by John Hilgendorf between 1876 and 1931. The Hilgendorf family were prominate members of the Freistadt settlement. coming from northern Germany in early 1840s. (see 11401 W.
