Additional Information: | Sanborn-Perris maps show that this altered one-story brick Twentieth Century Commercial Style building was built between 1922 and 1933 and that in 1933 it housed an unspecified store. 1995- "Commercial Building (now Viroqua Computers and Office Supply), VE25/16. Sanborn maps show that this small, very simple rectilinear plan one-story 20th Century Commercial style building was built between 1922 and 1933 for an unknown owner; in 1933 the building housed a store. The building has a brick-clad main west-facing facade and has side elevations clad in building tile. The symmetrical main facade consists of a simple storefront that originally had a centered inset entrance, store windows on either side, brick bulkheads below the windows, and a full-width transom above. The facade is crowned by a simple parapet wall, which hides the building's flat roof. The original flat-arched storefront opening of the building is still intact, but the original display windows have been removed, smaller modern windows have been put in their place, and the transom has now been covered over with wood boards. Since the original design of this building was very simple to begin with, the changes made to the storefront make it unlikely that this building would be individually eligible for inclusion on the NRHP." - "USH 14 Transportation Study ", WisDOT ID #1646-07-00, Prepared by Timothy F Heggland (1995). |
