Additional Information: | Sanborn-Perris maps show that this two-story Gable Ell form house was built prior to 1905. At a later date, this house was resided in stucco, but the Sanborn maps show that it was originally clad in wood, probably clapboard. 1995- "Sanborn maps show that this two-story Gable Ell form house was built prior to 1905 for an unknown owner. The house has an L-plan, a rock-faced concrete block foundation, and its exterior walls are now covered in stucco, although Sanborn maps suggest that they were originally clad in wood. Windows are generally one-over-one light double hung wooden sash although the hip-roofed front porch on the east-facing main facade has four-over-one light windows. It seems probable that this was originally a clapboard-covered late nineteenth century house that was remodeled in the second decade of the twentieth century; the stucco cladding and four-over-one-light windows suggest a Craftsman style influence that was probably an attempt to give an older building a more modern appearance. Although the house appear to be largely intact (following the early remodeling), the very simple design of the building makes it unlikely that it would be individually eligible for inclusion in the NRHP." - "USH 14 Transportation Study ", WisDOT ID #1646-07-00, Prepared by Timothy F Heggland (1995). |
