| Additional Information: | Sanborn-Perris maps show that this two-story brick Twentieth Century Commercial Style double store building was built between 1922 and 1933 and other sources sugest that it was built in 1924 to house the Schultz Brothers Co. dime store, which occupied the corner store from 1924 to 1989. 1995- "Sanborn maps show that this large two-story Twentieth Century Commercial style two-store commercial building was built between 1922 and 1933 and other sources suggest that it was built 1n 1924 to house the Schultz Bros. Co. dime store. 'l'he ouilding occupies the northeast corner formed by the Intersection ot S. Main and E. Jefferson streets and this location gives it two principal elevations, one facing onto either street. This two story building has a rectilinear plan, measures 85-teet-deep x 65-feet-wide, has a poured concrete basement story, and exterior walls above that are clad in brick. The principal facade faces west onto Main Street and it originally had two separate, unequal size storefronts that faced onto Main street and which were separated trom each other by the entrance to the second story. fhe smaller of the two was the north one, which had two large display windows flanking a recessed, centered entrance and was surmounted by a prism glass transom. The larger south storefront (the one belonging to the Schultz Bros. store) had three display windows separated by two recessed entrances and it too was surmounted by a prism glass transom. Another display window and transom associated with the south store was also located at the west end of the first story of the south-facing side elevation as well. 'l'oday, both of the west-facing storefronts have been replaced by modern ones and the one on the side elevation has been tilled in with brick. The second story of the building is still largely intact, however, and that ot the main facade is five-bays-wide with each bay containing an oblong window opening that or1ginally contained a pair of eight-over-one-light double hung wood sasn windows. Only the two left-nand bays on this facade have had their original windows replaced. 'l'he other three are still intact, as are the ones in the six bays of the south-facing side e1evation. 'l'he second story is crowned by a brick parapet that has a pronounced horizontal emphas1s.
