Additional Information: | Photo codes: OUT:FRV 2/10A, 11A. See HAER form. OAHP INVENTORY (03/1981): The North Osborn Cheese & Butter Company consists of three attached buildings. The first building was constructed in 1934 following a fire which destroyed a wood frame building. It is a 1 1/2 story, gabled roof, wood frame structure, with a concrete foundation. The exterior wall material is slate. In 1947, a one-story, concrete, block, flat roofed addition was built to the original building's rear. It has glass block windows with slip sills and a concrete foundation. In the late 1950's a second addition was added to the plant's front; a one-story brick structure with a flat roof, glass block and rectangular flat windows with slip sills, and a brick and concrete foundation. The entire complex measures 88' x 98'. The former cheese plant is located 0.6 miles west of the Seymour city limits in an area where Seymour was originally settled. The city was later relocated northeast of the site to be closer to the tracks of the Green Bay Western Railroad.s |
