Additional Information: | Photo code: OU:FRV 8/11. See HAER form. OAHP INVENTORY (07/20/1981): Arthur Nichols erected this structure around 1920 as the Nichols Ourway Fruit Co, a jelly and preserving operation. Mr. Nichols processed apples for cider, vinegar and preserves. The business faltered at the onset of the Depression and was sold to the Mallott Wholesale Grocery Co around 1930. In the mid to late thirties Mallott sold the structure to a Mr. A.C. Rule who in turn sold it to Straubel Paper in the late fourties. Strauber Paper, which operates the Nichols Paper Products Co. as a paper converting and finishing operation, currently uses the structure for office and storage space. The building measures 60' x 114-, finished in face brick on a brick foundation, flat roof with stepped facade and tile copings. |
