fountain Lumber Company, located at 129 N. State Street, opened its doors in 1883. They had a saw mill and performed a variety of lumber manufacturing processes. In the early 1920's, as the lumber supply depleted in the Fox River Valley, other yards opened throughout the state. The lumber would be milled and shipped to Appleton to sell. No manufacturing was done at this time at Fountain Lumber. Around 1949, the call for custom woodworking increased in Appleton. Fountain added a planer and woodworking tools. They primarily make wooded cabinets but are willing to make any custom wood product.

The main building has a concrete block foundation, is two stories, with a rectangular floor plan. There is a small wooden addition to the north and a larger wooden addition to the west. The other buildings in the complex are wooden storag buildings.
