Additional Information: | A 'site file' titled "Memorial Park Historic District" exists for this property. It contains additional information such as correspondence, newspaper clippings, or historical information. It is a public record and may be viewed in person at the Wisconsin Historical Society, Division of Historic Preservation-Public History. Three sided south bay and window; decorative shingles in gable ends; projecting wooden pedimented door window heads with console; two story gable roofed north bay. William Beurhaus lived in this house between about 1880 and about 1930. Beurhaus was a merchant who owned a general store at 200 E. Main St. between about 1880 and 1915. This house has some historical interest as the home of store owner William Beurhaus. Beurhaus operated a long-time general store in Watertown's downtown commercial district. While his business contributed to the overall development of commerce in Watertown, it was not individually significant for local history. Likewise, this house, although of historical interest, is not individually significant for local history. This building does not meet the criteria of the NRHP for architectural significance. However, this building has sufficient architectural character to contribute to the proposed historic district. |
