Additional Information: | Segmental arched windows; open full length front porch with turned posts brackets and gablet. This was the home of August Kohls, an engineer, between 1900 and 1934.(A) Initial research indicates that none of the occupants of this house are historically significant. This front gabled house is significant under criterion C as an example of the vernacular front gabled house form. Among the group of well-preserved front gabled houses remaining in Watertown, this 19th century house exhibiting some of the popular influences of the time of its construction exhibits exceptional integrity. Other good examples of the front gabled vernacular house form are located at 201 No. Church (54-10), 210 College Ave. (36-25), 413 E. Division (50-2). |
