Additional Information: | DESCRIPTION The house on this property is a two-story gabled ell building with clapboard siding and a stone foundation. Windows are two-over-two light double-hung sashes and some of them are paired. They are decorated with cornice lintels. On the front of the house is a one-story bay and the ell porch a gable-roofed barn, some agricultural sheds and a one-story coursed sandstone shed. The stone shed has small window openings an entrance framed with wood. ARCHITECTURAL/ENGINEERING SIGIFICANCE There are a number of fine stone constructed buildings in Mequon, both houses and sheds or smokehouses. Most of the stone buildings in Mequon are constructed of fieldstone. HISTORICAL BACKGROUND This farmstead was owned by Ernst Schober between 1862 and 1892 and by Henry Schober between 1893 and 1915.
