Additional Information: | A 'site file' exists for this property. It contains additional information such as correspondence, newspaper clippings, or historical information. It is a public record and may be viewed in person at the Wisconsin Historical Society, Division of Historic Preservation. This one and half-story building features a rectangular shaped plan configuration, a concrete foundation, a wood frame construction, an aluminum/vinyl sided exterior, a wood trim, and an asphalt shingled gable roof. Intersecting with the main roof in the attic story on the facade are two gable roofed wall dormers. Multi-paned windows appear on both the first and second stories. The finished interior materials includes plaster and knotty pine, with maple and hemlock floors. This structure is in good condition. The Adams Ranger Station office (#246) has functioned as such since its date of construction in 1940. Related to this building is the ranger station storage facility. (See Map Code 4/5). The garage is also considered a contributing (AHI 76175). Two other service buildings on the site were not included in the survey due to their dates of construction, 1965 and 1970. 2021: The Adams Ranger Station was constructed in 1940. It is a 2-story side gabled building that is rectangular in plan with a concrete foundation, aluminum siding, and an asphalt-shingled gable roof. The front elevation faces west and is symmetrical in composition. A 1-story, front-gabled porch projects from the center of the elevation. The porch features squared wood supports, a concrete foundation, and metal railings. Inside the porch is a single doorway flanked by small 1-over-1 windows. On both sides of the porch, at the first story, are pairs of 6-over-1 windows. Above these, at the second tory, are front-gabled wall dormers containing pairs of 6-over-1 windows. A wooden ADA ramp was added to the north side of the porch sometime after 1991. |
