| Additional Information: | Bargeboards; six over clear plate glass window; raised brick "label style" moulding over double windows and door; arched wooden one bay entrance porch. This was the home of Gus Lehrkind, the president of the Village Blacksmith Folks, a small but successful metal products company in Watertown. He lived here between c. 1924 and c. 1936. This house has some historical interest as the home of businessman Gus Lehrkind. Initial research indicates that his career is not significant, therefore, this house does not meet the criteria for local historical significance. In the proposed historic district for this area, however, this house would be considered contributing to the overall historical significance of the district under criterion B, association with significant persons as a group. This building does not meet the criteria of the NRHP for architectural significance. However, this building has sufficient architectural character to contribute to the proposed historic district. |
