Additional Information: | DESCRIPTION
THis two-story house is constructed of stone and has a side gable form. It has a low-pitched gable roof, returned eaves, and a large two-story, hipped roof rear ell. Windows are single-pane double-hung dadhes. There is a row of small windows on th eupper level of the front facade. A large picture is on the one side of the house and a front porch has ben enclosed. Also on the property are agricultural sheds and a large gambrel-roofed barn with board siding, large sliding doors, a rock-face concrete block foundation and small window openings.
ARCHITECTURAL/ENGINEERING SIGNIFICANCE
Mequon has a number of stone buildings, some constructe of lime stone and some constructed of fieldstone. The houses are significant because they illustrate a type and method of construction that appears frequently in the city. |
