Additional Information: | A structure similar to this building exists toward the rear; the two appear to be connected with a one-story brick addition. An article in a local newspaper indicates that Miller was hired by Ronald Teske to erect this dual-purpose structure at a cost of $50,000. City directories indicate that Teske was a lawyer. The subject structure's first tenant, Garner's Furniture Store, occupied this building for only two years (1930-1931); the structure stood vacant the following year. After the building served as an ice cream shop, the Fond du Lac Avenue Bootshop, Sears, Roebuck & Company. By 1950, Sears vacated the structure and the Northern Supply Liquor Company became the next commercial tenant, and later MJM Liquor. |
