Additional Information: | Update 2007- This vernacular house was constructed c.1910. It is of wood frame construction and rests on a foundation of rusticated concrete block. It is covered with wood clapboard. The house has an irregular plan with a two-story front gable section and a one-and-one-half-story side gable section. It features an open porch across the front elevation, with a gable roof dormer above. The porch is supported by square columns. The house retains some original windows but many have been replaced. A relatively small enclosed addition is attached to the rear. This house is one of two believed to have been commissioned by Dr. Richard Garrett, who resided at 114 South Black River Street, as a residence for one of his daughters. At the rear of the house is a modern front gable, one-car garage with a pedestrian entrance and a bay entrance on the front elevation. The garage is a simple rectangular plan. |
