Additional Information: | "One of the oldest resorts still operating in Iron County, this resort has operated under the same name since 1925. When Thomas J. Collins started this resort, his was the only resort on this lake and one of few several miles distant from the Mercer depot. In 1925, Collin's resort claimed to have room for 25 guests at $18.00 per week, including all American Plan meals. By 1944, however, the resort business had changed hands, and Collins had gone on the another enterprise, described below. Although Collins was an engineer by profession, he built his cabins out of basswood, a soft wood not usually good for construction. Within a few years, Collins' cabins needed more durable siding."
