Additional Information: | "Like many resort owners, the Russell brothers juggled more than one trade. In 1928, Alfred & Edwin Russell purchased a large tract of land, including this resort's location, with the intent a pursuing what was still on of Iron County's biggest industries -- lumbering. They continued to log in the area as late as 1954, when they were listed among the county's "established manufacturing industries," employing three people. A decline in the demand for timber during the first years of the Depression seems to have encouraged them to find a new outlet for their timber. By 1938, they had a summer resort, with 9 cabins and a small log bar. The current lodge building was constructed in 1946, just after the Russells sold the resort."
