Additional Information: | "This resort has not only had the same name, it has been run by the same family since 1940. Joe Miller, a former Butternut farmer and longtime Flowage fisherman, started to clear this property in 1939. Winters he spent in the woods cutting the logs, which ha later cut into lumber, to build his cabins, outhouses and his own house. Miller built everything himself, with assistance from his daughter and son-in-law, Millie and Wally Klaess, using basic woodworking tools, and working only from a design in his head. When the resort opened, Miller had 5 cottages, a house and several smaller buildings -- all the work of his hands. For many hopeful resort owners during the Depression and World War II, this kind of versatility was useful, if not necessary, for starting a resort with what little money you had available. By 1945, when his resort opened, Miller had five cottages, a house and several smaller buildings. Miller died in 1993, at the age of 90, still active in running the resort he built, along with his family. Millie, Wally and their daughters and spouses, all remain at the resort."
