Additional Information: | Reinhold Hille was a jeweler since about 1904. In 1908, he purchased the jewelry business of M. Obermeyer in the Thomas Building. The first floor of the building was specifically designed with high ceilings to permit jewelry display cabinets and also had a large vault. Armin Hille joined his father's business in 1934 as an optometrist. Reinhold's daughter, Margaret Touissant, worked in the business as a watchmaker in 1945. Reinhold Hille owned the building until the 40s and died in 1950. At this time, Armin moved his business to a new location. Koehn and Koehn have owned the building since 1962. |
