Additional Information: | A 'site file' exists for this property. It contains additional information such as correspondence, newspaper clippings, or historical information. It is a public record and may be viewed in person at the Wisconsin Historical Society, State Historic Preservation Office. 2023: This 2-story Italianate house was constructed c.1865 for B.O. Coon and family. It is rectangular in plan with cream brick walls and a metal-clad hipped roof. The front elevation faces north and is asymmetrical in composition due to uneven fenestration. The front door is sheltered by a decorative entry porch that features beveled wood supports, decorative spandrels, a pedimented gable roof, and decorative brackets. A single 2-over-2 window is located east of the entry porch, and a single 2-over-1 window is located west of the entry porch. Both windows feature decorative brick hoods. The second story contains three unevenly-spaced 1-over-1 windows with decorative brick hoods. Above the second story, a wide cornice board wraps around the building and features decorative paired brackets. Red brick chimneys are located at the east and west sides of the building and appear to be later additions (or possibly replacements). A rectangular bay window is located in the building’s west elevation and features double-hung windows with decorative hoods in each side and a hipped roof with a wide cornice board and decorative brackets. |
