NOTES
Additional Information:234 Grant Street James and Emma Trumble House I This one-and-one-half story brick cross-gabled house was built circa 1906 by brick contractor James Trumble (City of Rhinelander tax rolls; History of Lincoln, Oneida and Vilas Counties, p. 426). The house round-arched window openings, returned eaves, and narrow clapboards with a diamond-shaped window in the front gable-end. The enclosed, brick, hip-with-deck-roofed porch may be slightly later, although it does appear on the 1920 Sanborn Map of Rhinelander. Trumble (1876-?) was born in Whitewater and moved to Rhinelander in 1902. He lived in this house for several years, and began renting it out around 1912. About the same time, Trumble built the house at 404 Lincoln Street (which see). The Trumble House I is an interesting local example of a masonry vernacular house, but is probably not distinctive enough to qualify for listing on the National Register for its architecture.
