NOTES
Additional Information:227 Pleasant Street Alfred Wilson-William D. and Helen Harrigan House
This one-and-one-half-story, frame, side-gabled Bungalow was built circa 1914 for Alfred
Wilson, who sold it to William D. and Helen Harrigan in 1917 (Oneida County deeds, 70:56, and
83:35; Oneida County mortgages, 15:241; 1920 Sanborn Map of Rhinelander; Rhinelander tax
rolls; Rhinelander City Directories). It features a random round-rubble basement, nine-over-one
windows, clapboards, exposed rafters, a shed-roofed dormer with exposed rafters, and a corner,
cutaway screened porch. William Harrigan, who had a flour and feed store, and then a lime and
cement business in the late-1890s, may have been retired by the time this house was built. Helen
Harrigan was likely a widow by 1921, as she is listed as the occupant from 1921 until 1946
(Rhinelander City Directories).
